Monday, December 22 Weather, Heavy Rain and Strong Wind in Jabodetabek

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued an early warning of the potential for extreme weather in the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) regions on Monday, December 22.

The public is urged to be alert to rain that may be accompanied by lightning or thunder and strong winds, especially during the day and afternoon.

Based on the BMKG weather forecast, heavy cloudy conditions are predicted to have covered the Bekasi and Tangerang areas since early morning, with the potential for light to moderate intensity rain.

Entering the morning, rain is expected to spread to the Jakarta, Depok, and Bogor areas as air humidity increases to between 72 and 90 percent.

BMKG reminded that the potential for rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds could occur in the afternoon and evening, especially in some areas of South Jakarta, East Jakarta, South Tangerang, and buffer areas such as Bogor and Bekasi.

For air temperature, the Bogor City and Regency area is estimated to be in the range of 22 to 30 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the air temperature in Jakarta and its surroundings is predicted to range between 24 to 32 degrees Celsius, with winds blowing from the west to the northwest with speeds reaching 25 to 35 kilometers per hour.

BMKG appeals to the public, especially drivers and residents who are active outdoors, to remain vigilant against sudden weather changes. Strong winds have the potential to have impacts such as fallen trees, waterlogging, and impaired visibility.
