TNI Evacuates 3 Emergency Patients from Bener Meriah to Banda Aceh

ACEH BESAR - The Iskandar Muda Kodam Task Force evacuated three emergency patients from Mayang Kute Village, Bener Meriah Regency, to Banda Aceh using a Bell 412 helicopter owned by the Indonesian Ministry of Defense. The helicopter landed safely at the Sultan Iskandar Muda Air Force Base (Lanud SIM), Aceh Besar, Saturday, December 20.

Head of Information for Kodam Iskandar Muda, Colonel Inf Teuku Mustafa Kamal, said that the air evacuation was carried out because the medical condition of the patients required immediate treatment, while land transportation access was limited and the distance to the referral health facility was quite far.

"Air evacuation is chosen to speed up medical treatment and save the lives of patients," said Teuku Mustafa Kamal in his statement, Sunday, December 21.

Upon arrival at the SIM Air Base, the three patients were immediately handled by the medical team. One of the patients, Tobi Faruli (24), suffered serious lacerations accompanied by broken legs due to slipping while crossing a tree bridge.

Two other patients, Suparjo (74) who suffered from urinary retention and Ibnu (68) with medical conditions that could not be optimally handled in their home areas, also needed further treatment.

After landing, all patients were evacuated using the Kesdam Iskandar Muda ambulance to the Kesdam IM Hospital. The transfer process was fast and coordinated while prioritizing patient safety.

Colonel Teuku Mustafa Kamal emphasized that the success of the evacuation was the result of cross-agency coordination between the TNI, the Ministry of Defense, medical personnel, and other related parties. According to him, good synergy is the key to the smooth running of the humanitarian operation.

He also emphasized the importance of the presence of air equipment such as the Bell 412 helicopter to reach remote and difficult-to-access areas. Kodam Iskandar Muda, he said, will continue to be ready to support humanitarian efforts and help the community in emergency conditions.
