Bahlil asks his cadres not to use Golkar as a tool to manage business

JAKARTA - Golkar Party Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia asked his members not to make Golkar Party a tool to take care of personal business interests.

"Golkar Party must not be used as a party to fight for the interests of certain groups, business groups must not," said Bahlil to his cadres when opening the 2025 National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) at the Golkar Party DPP office, West Jakarta, Saturday.

The statement was immediately greeted with thunderous applause and applause from cadres in the meeting room.

According to Bahlil, Golkar is actually a party that was born from the people for the people and must side with the people.

The presence of the Golkar Party, even since the New Order era, said Bahlil, has been considered to have played an excellent role in democracy in guarding the aspirations of the people while maintaining the atmosphere of the government.

The role, continued Bahlil, should not be used by a few people in the internal Golkar Party for personal interests, let alone business affairs.

Bahlil himself, who has a background as an activist and businessman, admitted that he did not want to use his position as Chairman of Golkar to start his business activities.

"I will never make Golkar Party to take care of my personal interests, let alone my business. Never," said Bahlil.

"If the general chairman alone is not allowed, what else," added Bahlil to his cadres.
