East Java Police Arrest the Second Perpetrator of the UMM Student Murder

SURABAYA - The East Java Regional Police arrested the second perpetrator with the initials SJ in the case of the murder of a student of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) Faradila Amalia Najwa whose body was found in Pasuruan, after the development of the Jatanras Team of the East Java Police.

"Since the discovery of the victim's body, the East Java Police Jatanras team has continued to move and has named one suspect with the initials AS, then last night arrested another suspect with the initials SJ," said Head of Public Relations of the East Java Police, Kombes Jules Abraham Abast in Surabaya, Friday, December 19.

Jules explained that the suspect SJ was around 38 years old and was a resident of Krucil District, Probolinggo Regency, who was suspected of committing the crime of murder together with the suspect AS.

According to him, after the incident, the suspect SJ moved from Lumajang Regency, Pamekasan Regency, to Probolinggo Regency to avoid arrest.

"Thanks to the information from the community and the cooperation of the Jatanras team and the personnel of the East Java Regional Police, the suspect SJ was arrested on Jalan Raya Panglima Sudirman, Kraksaan District, Probolinggo Regency at around 23.00 WIB," he said.

Currently, continued Jules, the suspect SJ has been secured at the East Java Police Headquarters to undergo intensive examination with the suspect AS to investigate the role of each and the motive for the murder.

He emphasized that investigators applied the legal construction of murder because the two suspects were suspected of jointly and intentionally eliminating the victim's life, including when disposing of the victim's body.

"For the time being, there are only two suspects. We are still continuing to investigate the possibility of other parties helping, including the role of the suspects' families or relatives," said Jules.
