DENPASAR - A video of a number of people throwing garbage into the got channel in front of the Badung Regency KPU building, Bali, went viral on social media. One of the perpetrators, a member of the Badung KPU.

In the video, several bags of garbage containing garbage were thrown into small ditches or ditches. The incident occurred in front of the KPU Badung office gate, on Jalan Kebo Iwa Utara, Padangsambian Kaja, West Denpasar District, Denpasar City.

The Chairman of the Bali KPU, I Dewa Agung Gede Lidartawan, said the garbage collector was a member of the Badung Regency KPU commissioner and two security guards.

"Waste disposal by our friends, one commissioner and two security guards of us at the Badung Regency KPU," said Lidartawan at a press conference at the Bali KPU office, in Denpasar, Friday, December 19.

The indiscriminate dumping occurred on Thursday, December 18. At that time, the Badung KPU held a meeting with the BPK.

Heavy rain that fell caused puddles and garbage to enter the KPU Badung Building area.

"And every flood always has a shipment of garbage, in the form of red scraps, whose contents are actually things that shouldn't go into the office. One of them is often sanitary napkins and so on, household items that often come there," he added.

But the garbage that was brought in because of the puddle, was thrown back into the ditch.

"The garbage sent from outside that due to flooding entered our office. That's what my friends who did it returned. That's one commissioner and two of our pamdal," he explained.

"I underline, the garbage is not garbage from the KPU. And KPU (Badung) has a modern teba, has garbage sorting, the garbage is garbage sent from outside, because the flood entered our office," he said.

The three apologized and were given a fine of Rp1 million each, which was paid to the local customary village. The penalty is a pararem or local customary village regulation regarding the indiscriminate disposal of garbage.

"So the customary sanction is for the person

who blindly dispose of garbage. That is, it will be Rp. 2.5 million per person, there is an adat sanction, it is written," he said.

"But because it was the first time, once again it was not our garbage. Then it was conveyed that it was just spontaneity and indeed because of the flood, so the concession was given and only a fine of Rp. 1 million was paid," he said.
