JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian said the parties had coordinated with the Ministry of Public Works (PU) to repair village offices in the Sumatra and Aceh regions that were severely damaged due to natural disasters.

"For those who are severely damaged, we will submit it to the Minister of PU," said Tito at a press conference at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, East Jakarta, Friday, quoted by Antara.

He said this was done in accordance with the power of local governments in repairing damaged local government offices.

Based on the data received by Tito, it was recorded that there were 360 village offices that were categorized as slightly damaged and 25 village offices were severely damaged.

The number is spread across the natural disaster areas, namely North Sumatra, West Sumatra and Aceh.

"Especially for those who are slightly damaged, we see the ability of the region whether they are able. If they are not able, we will take over and for those who are severely damaged, we will ask the Minister of PU," he said.

Tito did not explain in detail when the repair process would take place and the technical work. He also did not explain in detail the categories of minor damage and major damage that were meant.

He only ensured that the repair process would be carried out as soon as possible to accelerate the post-disaster recovery process in the region.
