Megawati: Women Can Be Beautiful, Don't Forget to Educate Children

JAKARTA - PDI Perjuangan General Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri gave a message regarding the balance of the role of women in commemorating Mother's Day Caring for the Motherland: Women are Tough, the Motherland is Whole.

Megawati reminded that the beauty of an Indonesian woman must be in line with her responsibility as an educator of the nation.

"You have to be enthusiastic. You can dress up as beautiful as you want. But dressing up is not just for yourself. Remember, you are the Mother of the Nation who will educate and bring up children so that Indonesia will remain eternal, become a prosperous Indonesia Raya," said Megawati, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, December 18.

Megawati emphasized that equal rights guaranteed by the constitution are capital for women to achieve the highest possible ideals, but still maintain family values.

"Men and women are equal in the constitution. The only difference is their nature," he added.

In line with the role of women as guardians of generations, Megawati also highlighted the importance of family nutrition. He reminded mothers not to be lazy to cook and avoid dependence on instant food to prevent stunting.

"My mother was the First Lady, but she still cooked for her husband. Don't let our children even get stunted because their mothers are negligent. Women must know how to process cheap and nutritious local food," said Megawati.

In his direction, Megawati emphasized the importance of self-confidence for Indonesian women. He reminded that the constitution guarantees full equality between men and women.

"I as the General Chairperson always say, don't feel inferior as a woman. Because in our constitution, every citizen has the same rights. Men and women are the same, the only difference is their nature," said Megawati.

The 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia also motivated the cadres by telling his own achievements as an example. "My honorary title is 13. If I can, why can't you? That's why you have to be enthusiastic," he added.

This message from the General Chairperson was emphasized by the Chairperson of the PDI Perjuangan DPP for Women and Children, Bintang Puspayoga. He stated that the party had prepared an educational device through the launch of the book "Guidelines for Training Grass Roots Women" and the recipe book "Secret of the Taste of Nusantara".

"As directed by the Chairperson, we want Indonesian women to be strong figures. The theme 'Strong Women, Healthy Motherland' is interpreted as the power of women in maintaining family harmony and the integrity of the nation," said Bintang.

This event was also enlivened by a cross-professional fashion show - from Damkar officers to online motorcycle taxi drivers - as well as the awarding of awards to a number of veteran women, as a symbol of the fighting spirit of women that should not be extinguished from time to time.
