NTB Police Mediates the Alleged Case of Sponsorship Fund Fraud for MXGP 2024

MATARAM - The West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police opened a mediation room from the alleged case of fraud and embezzlement of sponsorship from the Motocross Grand Prix (MXGP) racing event of two series which took place in 2024 on the islands of Lombok and Sumbawa.

Head of Subdirectorate III of General Criminal Investigation of the NTB Police, AKBP Catur Erwin Setiawan, explained that the effort to resolve disputes outside the court or non-litigation is basically the right of the reporting party who feels to be a victim of fraud.

"So, it depends on the victim. The victim wants what it is like," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, December 18.

However, his party has not received information about the statement from both parties, both the reporter and the reported (Director of PT SEG) to take such efforts.

For the handling process, he ensured that the case, which is still in the investigation stage, has shown significant progress.

The examination of witnesses, which was carried out in a marathon in the last two weeks, is now in the stage of strengthening the criminal evidence from expert opinions. Catur Erwin revealed that the experts needed at this time are criminal experts.

"And we are still scheduling it," he said.

The Director of Criminal Investigation of the NTB Police, Kombes Syarif Hidayat, previously explained that this criminal expert opinion was the final series of an investigation that traced criminal violations leading to Article 372 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 378 of the Criminal Code.

For clarification of witnesses, both from the reported and the reporter from the vendor party who support the smooth running of the MXGP event have been completed.

One of them, the vendor who provided the stand with a claim of Rp800 million in losses. The loss figure emerged from what was referred to as an unpaid debt.

"So, the contract is Rp800 million. He has carried out activities, it's all over, but it hasn't been paid. Well, that's what we're doing," said Kombes Syarif.

The sponsorship in the organization of the MXGP event is sourced from the red plate sharia bank owned by the region.
