JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Transportation Office (Dishub) has prepared security measures and transportation services during the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year celebrations. Security is focused on traffic flow, road user safety, and citizen mobility, which is expected to increase during the long holiday.
Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Office Syafrin Liputo said thousands of personnel were deployed and spread at a number of strategic points, both on land and sea, including transportation services to the Thousand Islands.
"In total we deployed 2,500 personnel. For the arrangement at sea, of course we focus on the Thousand Islands community service," Syafrin told reporters, Wednesday, December 17.
In the land sector, the DKI Dishub dispatched personnel at major transportation nodes. The focus of security was carried out at four main terminals and three assistance terminals to ensure that the movement in and out of Jakarta is still served by public transportation.
In addition to terminals, DKI Dishub also focuses on tourist areas that are predicted to experience a surge in visits during the Christmas holiday. A number of locations such as Ragunan, Monas, Ancol, Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK), Setu Babakan, Old Town, to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah are included in the list of supervision.
"At these tourist locations, we apply traffic management and engineering. For example, in Ragunan and Monas, including Ancol and PIK. For Taman Mini, we have also coordinated if there is a density of visitors," said Syafrin.
In terms of supporting fleets, DKI Dishub has prepared around 80 units of towing cars to handle vehicle disruptions on the road. The fleet is supported by 46 patrol cars and two mobile Variable Message Sign (VMS) cars to convey traffic conditions directly to road users.
"This fleet will provide direct information to the public regarding traffic arrangements, especially if there is congestion. For example, in Ragunan, it could be that in the morning one direction is entered and in the afternoon one direction is out, depending on the situation on the ground," he explained.
To support marine tourism, DKI Dishub added four tourist boats that were prepared to serve the route to the Thousand Islands. However, the operation of the ship still depends on weather conditions and the results of coordination with the port authorities.
"This year there are four additional units. However, departure to the Thousand Islands is very dependent on the situation and weather conditions. Like the last two days, after coordinating with KSOP, we had to stop the ship service temporarily because the weather did not allow it," said Syafrin.
DKI's Dishub also anticipates the potential for extreme weather that often occurs in the period from December to January. Cross-agency coordination is carried out to ensure a quick response if there are disruptions in the field.
