JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that the police are currently conducting legal proceedings against several companies suspected of violating regulations, thus exacerbating the impact of flash floods and landslides in a number of districts/cities in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
At the State Palace, Jakarta, Sigit explained that the examination of one company is currently in the investigation stage, while for another company, the police are still investigating the alleged violation of the rules.
"From the results of the field investigation related to the follow-up according to the President's instructions, for the deepening related to logging, we have now raised the signature of one corporation and we are investigating the other process. There are likely to be two more that we will raise later gradually," said the National Police Chief in answer to a reporter's question when he was met after the Plenary Cabinet Meeting at the State Palace, Monday, December 15, reported by ANTARA.
When asked what companies were targeted or investigated by the police, the National Police Chief did not reveal the names of the companies to the public.
"If yesterday's one was announced, it was released at the location by our members," said the National Police Chief.
"I think it was clear and firm regarding the companies that were given concessions, but in the process they violated the rules, or there was no concession at all, and violated the rules, yes we took legal action. I think the order is clear and firm from the President and we will implement it," said the National Police Chief.
The company that Sigit referred to is likely to refer to PT Tri Bahtera Srikandi (TBS).
