Along with handling disasters during the emergency response period, President Prabowo announced that the government had now started construction of 2,000 permanent housing units (huntap) for refugees whose homes were damaged by flash floods and landslides.
"I have received a report from the Minister of Housing (Maruarar Sirait, ed.) that starting this Sunday, we have started to build 2,000 houses. It is possible that these houses can immediately become permanent houses," said the President.
Prabowo stated that the government had enough budget to finance post-disaster recovery in Sumatra. "It's because we implement efficiency, we reduce all possible corruption, leaks, we have money now," said the President.
The government, the President continued, is currently also distributing direct operational tactical funds to local governments whose territories are affected by disasters. Tactical funds transferred to the region are outside the budget for recovery.
