Firli Bahuri Releases Biography, Story of a Village Child to the National Stage

JAKARTA - Former Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Komjen Purn. Firli Bahuri released a biography entitled Anak Dusun Menjaring Impian: A Biography of a Bhayangkari Person, Saturday, December 13, 2025. This book records Firli's life journey from a remote village in South Sumatra to climbing a strategic position in the country.

The biography of more than 500 pages was launched in Sentul, Bogor, to coincide with the 33rd anniversary of Firli and his wife, Dina Bahuri's marriage. The event was held simply and privately, attended by family and close friends.

Written by Arief Gunawan and published by Booknesia, this book traces Firli's childhood in Lontar Village, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency. From the limitations of the village, Firli migrated to Palembang for school, then repeatedly failed to pass the Police Academy.

After graduating from high school in 1982, Firli was left out four times in the final stage of the Police Academy selection. He had been a soldier and served at the Cibabat Police, West Java Police. The last chance came in 1987. Firli passed the Akpol and was appointed as an officer with the rank of Lieutenant Two in 1990.

His police career took him to various regions, from Jakarta, East Timor, Lampung, Central Java, Banten, West Nusa Tenggara, to South Sumatra. He was also part of the Garuda Contingent on the UNTAC mission in Cambodia. His last position in the National Police was Head of the Security Maintenance Agency (Kabaharkam).

This book contains an introduction from two of his friends. Eddy Iskandar, a high school friend in Palembang, described Firli as a diligent and consistent person since he was a teenager. Eddy wrote, Firli's habit of choosing the library over entertainment became the foundation of his character and leadership.

JMSI Chairman Teguh Santosa assessed that this biography invites readers to see Firli as a human being, not just a position. According to him, this book does not answer the accusations against Firli, but opens up space to understand the long process that shaped him.

Teguh revealed that Firli stated that he would answer various accusations during his leadership of the KPK in the sequel. "The sequel will explain the truth of his version specifically," wrote Teguh, quoted from a written statement received in Jakarta, Monday, December 15.
