Indonesia Condemns Mass Shooting That Killed 16 People on Australia's Bondi Beach

JAKARTA - Indonesia strongly condemns the acts of violence that occurred on Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, on December 14, 2025 which resulted in casualties and injuries.

This was conveyed by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) through the official social media account of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on X, Jakarta, Monday, December 15.

The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also said that Indonesia expressed its deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims, and prayed for the injured.

"Indonesia expresses its solidarity with the Government and people of Australia in this difficult time," according to a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, quoted by Antara.

Previously, there was a shooting on Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, which left 16 people dead and 40 others injured.

The Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) in Sydney has also urged the Indonesian people to remain vigilant following the shooting on Bondi Beach.

"The Indonesian Consulate General in Sydney urges Indonesian citizens in the New South Wales region to remain vigilant, avoid the location of the incident, and follow the instructions of the Australian authorities," said the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a written statement.

The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the KJRI Sydney stated that they would continue to observe the incident seriously and continue to coordinate closely with local authorities to monitor the development of the situation.

Meanwhile, the New South Wales (NSW) Police said that the alleged perpetrator of the shooting was a father and son.

According to the New South Wales Police, the alleged perpetrators are two men, aged 50 and 24 years old.

"The 50-year-old man has died, while the 24-year-old man is currently being treated in hospital," said NSW Police Commissioner Mel Lanyon, adding that based on police investigations, only two people were involved in the shooting incident.
