Turkish Defense Company Develops Rescue Drone to be Used in Natural Disasters

JAKARTA - Leading Turkish companies are developing rescue drones to facilitate rescue operations during natural disasters, amid the increasing use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) to save people in difficult conditions.

A man was recently evacuated to safety by a drone after flooding trapped him in the middle of the Srepok River in Cu Jut District, Vietnam.

When traditional rescue methods fail due to flooding and difficult terrain conditions, a drone that is usually used for agricultural activities becomes a victim of disaster rescue.

With a carrying capacity of 100 kilograms (220 pounds), the drone transported the man to an accessible location, and the rescue team safely pulled him out of the water, Anadolu quoted (10/12).

High-capacity cargo drones from Turkish defense companies stand out with similar features that make them suitable for rescue operations.

Leading companies such as Zyrone Dynamics, Titra Technology and DASAL produce products that can be used in difficult disaster conditions.

The ZD360 cargo UAV from Zyrone Dynamics is a next-generation solution with high capacity that can perform tasks within a radius of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) with a payload of 60 kilograms (132 pounds). It can handle a 100 kilogram payload within a radius of 1 kilometer (0.62 miles).

The drone's compact size, about a quarter of similar systems, allows it to be carried anywhere by vehicle and can be deployed quickly.

Meanwhile, Alpin from Titra Technology is Turkey's first unmanned helicopter. This aircraft has a payload capacity of up to 200 kilograms (440 pounds), including fuel.

The high carrying capacity and long durability of Alpin make it an important asset for operations in mountainous terrain or in flood or fire areas.

Meanwhile, DASAL offers various cargo UAVs, one of which is the PUHU C75. This drone can carry a load of up to 75 kilograms (165 pounds).

PUHU C75 is an improvement from its predecessor with higher load capacity and more durable, because it considers the ever-evolving technology and changing user needs for increased load and wider range.

Meanwhile, the PUHU C100 is designed to meet the main logistics needs in the field, with a load capacity of 100 kilograms, long range, and high horizontal speed.

DASAL also produces CONDOR-C150, which can carry a payload of 150 kilograms (330 pounds) for 30 minutes.

Autonomous and attack-resistant cargo drones and UAVs with high payloads made by Turkish defense companies are used in the defense industry, but also have significant potential for rescue and humanitarian aid operations during disasters such as floods, earthquakes, and fires.

These systems can play a key role in reducing the loss of life and material impact on the environment caused by disasters through rapid and effective rescue operations, while keeping the safety of rescuers from dangerous areas.
