Aceh Needs 18 Bailey Bridge Units for Emergency Handling After the End of November Flood

JAKARTA - A total of 18 units of bailey bridges are needed to accelerate the handling of road and bridge infrastructure after the massive flooding and landslides that hit Aceh Province in late November 2025.

Based on the mapping results of the Ministry of Public Works (PU), the hydrometeorological disaster that hit Aceh caused the collapse of 15 bridge units on a number of national road sections.

"For emergency handling, the need for bailey bridges in Aceh Province is set at 18 units," said Minister of PU Dody Hanggodo in a written statement, Saturday, December 13.

Of these, eight units have been available and installed at several priority locations, while the other 10 units are still in the process of being fulfilled and mobilized from various regions outside Aceh.

The distribution of the needs for 18 units of bailey bridges includes strategic sections that connect the coastal areas, the central plains and the interior areas of Aceh.

The details, in the Bireuen to Bener Meriah and Central Aceh areas, Bailey bridges are needed at a number of points, such as Teupin Mane; Alue Kulus; Weihni Enang-enang; Weihni Rongka; Timang Gajah; Weihni Lampahan; and Jamur Ujung.

On the Central Aceh-Nagan Raya crossing to Lhok Seumot-Jeuram, a bailey bridge is needed to restore access on the Krueng Beutong Bridge.

The need for bailey bridges is also spread across the Pameue-Genting Gerbang-Simpang Uning crossing, including the Krueng Pelang Bridge, Jeurata and Titi Merah, as well as on the Simpang Uning-Uwaq section of the Lenang Bridge.

Meanwhile, in the Gayo Lues area to South Aceh and Kutacane, bailey bridges are needed at the Lawe Penanggalan Bridge, Lawe Mengkudu and two points of broken road bodies on the Blangkejeren-South Aceh/Gayo Lues border section.

To meet these needs, said Dody, his party mobilized bailey bridges from various sources. A total of 10 bailey bridges have been prepared, including one bailey of the Riau National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN) to Kutacane, six bailey of the East Kalimantan National Road Implementation Agency (BBPJN), two bailey from the Citeureup Depot and one Bailey BPJN Jambi.

BUMN Karya's support includes five bailey from Adhi Karya, three bailey from Hutama Karya and one bailey from Nindya Karya.

Dody said that one of the ongoing progress was the mobilization of the bailey bridge from Balikpapan to Lhokseumawe.

Until December 13, 2025, at 09.00 WITA, in the East Kalimantan BPJN Warehouse, three sets of Bailey bridges have been selected and sorted. A total of two sets of bridges have been assembled on eight trucks and another set is being mobilized to Kariangau Port using four trucks.

At the Kariangau Port, the bridge frame was arranged into two 40-foot containers and 10 20-foot containers.

According to him, all technical units of the Ministry of PU will continue to work and monitor the progress of the mobilization and installation of bailey bridges. Including, ensuring the handling of emergency infrastructure in Aceh runs effectively until the conditions are immediately recovered and community activities return to normal.

"The PU Ministry continues to strive for this access to be functional as soon as possible. Roads and bridges are the lifeblood of people's movement and logistics distribution," concluded Dody.
