Banser Helps Clean Churches Affected by Flooding in Central Tapanuli

BAGANA carried out humanitarian action by cleaning up at the location of the Protestant Batak Christian Church (HKBP) District IX Sibolga Tapanuli Tengah, North Sumatra, which was affected by a flood disaster accompanied by mud.

The Chairman of the Central Leadership of the Ansor GP, Addin Jauharudin, said that the team sent down for the Sumatra and Aceh disasters did not look at the background of the affected residents. According to him, Banser's humanitarian action must touch all members of the community who need it.

"So we are down for humanitarian action. All those affected, who are victims, whatever their religion, their tribe, their group, if we are able, we will definitely help," said Addin in a statement reported by ANTARA, Saturday, December 13.

Addin explained that this humanitarian action was aimed at making Christians who will celebrate Christmas feel attentive and comfortable. Moreover, Christmas is just waiting for a few days.

"In the midst of disaster, our brothers and sisters from the Christian community want to worship with piety and comfort. So that they are not disturbed, Banser in the field will also clean the church," he said.

This cleaning activity at places of worship is part of Bagana's national action at disaster sites such as in Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra. According to Addin, Ansor's assistance in addition to distributing logistics, also helps repair public facilities.

"Public facilities, schools, places of worship, health centers. Then sanitation improvements to clean the streets became Bagana's concentration, after the distribution of basic necessities," he said.

Meanwhile, the Ansor North Sumatra GP Korwil Timbul Pasaribu said that Banser personnel who went to the field cleaned up the material carried away by the flood. Banser also ensured that around the church area was safe to use again.

"Banser personnel immediately removed the garbage, mud, and materials carried away by the flood, as well as ensuring that the church area was clean and safe to use," he said.

In addition to cleaning the church, there are places of worship that are also affected by the disaster. The PC GP Ansor Tapanuli Tengah, together with Banser, also cleaned the mosques that were affected by the flood disaster.
