JAKARTA - President Donald Trump said the leaders of Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to renew a ceasefire after days of deadly clashes.

Trump announced the deal to restart the ceasefire in a social media post after making a phone call with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet.

"They have agreed to CESS all shooting effective tonight, and go back to the original Peace Agreement made with me, and them, with the help of the great Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim," Trump said in his Truth Social post, as reported by the Associated Press, Saturday, December 13.

Thai and Cambodian officials did not immediately comment on Trump's announcement.

Anutin, after speaking with Trump, said he reiterated to Trump that Thailand's position was to continue the war until Cambodia no longer posed a threat to its sovereignty.
