The Attorney General's Office Ensures That The Road Chromebook Corruption Session Even Though Jurist Tan Is Still At Large

The Attorney General's Office (AGO) has ensured that the trial process for the alleged corruption case of the Chromebook laptop at the Ministry of Education and Culture continues even though one suspect, former Special Staff of the Minister of Education and Technology Jurist Tan, is still a fugitive and is on the wanted list (DPO).

Meanwhile, the case files of four other suspects have been officially transferred to the Corruption Court (Tipikor) at the Central Jakarta District Court.

The four suspects are former Minister of Education and Technology Nadiem Anwar Makarim, technology consultant Kemendikbudristek Ibrahim Arief, former Director of SMP Directorate General of PAUD Dikdasmen Mulyatsah, and former Director of SD Directorate General of PAUD Dikdasmen Sri Wahyuningsih.

"Indeed, one perpetrator that we did not delegate today is still a fugitive," said the Director of the AGO's Jampidsus Prosecution, Riono Budisantoso, in Jakarta, Monday, December 8.

Riono admitted that investigators had yet to find Jurist Tan's whereabouts, so the investigation into him could not be completed. However, he emphasized that the absence of one suspect would not affect the evidence at trial.

"Not affected by the absence of one perpetrator who is a fugitive," he said.

Riono added that the files of the four defendants that had been transferred were considered quite strong and had been carefully and professionally compiled so that they were ready to be tested in the trial process.

In this case, the AGO suspects that there are actions to enrich oneself, others, or corporations against the law. Based on calculations, the alleged state loss reached around Rp. 2.1 trillion.

The search for Jurist Tan is still being carried out, while the trial of the four defendants is confirmed to be immediately rolled out at the Jakarta Corruption Court.
