JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto reminded ministers and regional heads not to misuse all government entities, especially if there are parties who take advantage of disasters in Sumatra to enrich themselves.

In a limited meeting at the Aceh Natural Disaster Management National Companion Post located at the Sultan Iskandar Muda Air Force Base, Aceh Besar, Sunday, December 7, Prabowo said that the disaster that occurred in Sumatra was proof that the government had to manage wealth as well as possible.

"This is proof that we must manage all of our wealth as well as possible. I remind you that there should be no fraud, there should be no corruption in all government entities. Because this is proof, we need every ability of ours. We need every money to face and overcome the difficulties of the people," Prabowo said as witnessed on the Presidential Secretariat YouTube account.

Prabowo emphasized that the government must mobilize all its capabilities and require funds to overcome the difficulties of the people, especially in dealing with disasters.

In addition, Prabowo also reminded all ministers and regional heads to examine their ranks, especially on projects that are in their responsibility.

"I don't want any parties to use this disaster to enrich themselves. I will be very harsh, don't let anyone seek profit in the midst of the suffering of the people," said Prabowo.

Prabowo asked the National Police Chief and regional heads to supervise if there was a potential for fraud, and impose sanctions.

"So the police, all parties, check, local governments note that there are naughty ones, double the price and so on," said Prabowo.

After directly observing the disaster-affected conditions in a number of locations in Aceh, President Prabowo Subianto chaired a limited meeting (ratas) regarding the handling and recovery of disasters that hit Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

On that occasion, President Prabowo said that the conditions in a number of areas affected by the disaster were indeed taken seriously based on the reports he received.

Many rice fields were badly damaged, potentially disrupting the food production of the local community. In addition, the President also received reports of a number of dams that were broken, both large and small, which had a direct impact on the irrigation system.

The Head of State acknowledged that a number of challenges were still encountered in several locations, especially because of natural conditions that need to be watched out for, but the government will continue to ensure that handling is carried out in stages, measurable, and sustainable in order to accelerate the recovery of people's lives.
