BANDA ACEH - President Prabowo Subianto agreed to budget IDR 60 million per house to help refugees replace their damaged or destroyed residences due to landslides and flash floods.

In a disaster coordination meeting at the Sultan Iskandar Muda Air Base Integrated Command Post, Aceh Besar District, Aceh Province, Sunday, December 7 evening, President Prabowo received a report regarding the construction of temporary shelters (huntara) and permanent residences (huntap) intended for flash floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra Provinces.

"As of today, Mr. President, the houses of the damaged people are up to 37,546 houses that were heavily damaged, including those that were lost in the flood sweep and then moderately damaged," said Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Lt. Gen. Suharyanto to President Prabowo during the meeting.

Suharyanto continued that the data was not final, because the data collection was still being carried out by BNPB together with the Ministry of Public Works.

On the same occasion, the Head of BNPB then proposed that temporary housing intended for refugees be built by members of the TNI and Polri who are members of the disaster management task force, while permanent housing for them, the construction will be handed over to the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas.

"Then those who did not move, because maybe the flood, the impact was not too big for the family so they didn't have to move, but the house was damaged, we repaired it by the BNPB task force," said Suharyanto when giving a report to the President at the same meeting.

Regarding the budget, BNPB submitted Rp. 60 million per house to President Prabowo.

"This permanent residence is a budget of Rp. 60 million, is that enough?" asked the President to Suharyanto.

"So far this has been enough, but if indeed the President wants to add we are happier," said the Head of BNPB.

"Rp60 million because it is not relocated, sir. Later the recipient can add it with his own money. Maybe have a family in the village, have children who have a salary to add, you can. However, (we) do not (give it) in the form of money, because they are worried that the form of money will become something else," said the Head of BNPB.

"Okay, maybe of course we will calculate the price increase, inflation, and so on," said the President giving instructions to the Head of BNPB regarding the construction of permanent housing for the refugees.

Meanwhile, for temporary housing, the allocated budget is IDR 30 million per house. The houses built are 36 square meters complete with room facilities, toilet facilities, and other rooms.
