98 Resolution Network Calls For National Solidarity For Aceh Disaster Victims Of Sumatra

JAKARTA - 98 Resolution Network together with PT Pegadaian (BUMN), Pegadaian Workers Union, and the Indonesian Reservoir Association (IPI) again held a social action of Citizens Caring for Citizens (WPW) in the Bantar Gebang area, Bekasi. This activity in the form of distributing food packages is a tangible manifestation of mutual cooperation among residents amid the increasing incidence of natural disasters in a number of regions in Indonesia.

In his statement, Spokesperson for the 98 Resolution Network, Rahman Toha, expressed his deep sorrow and concern over the disasters that hit Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

We call on the whole community to uphold solidarity and mutual cooperation, either through material, immaterial, or prayer assistance," said Rahman.

Rahman also expressed his full support for the government's quick steps in disaster management.

"We believe that the Prabowo government is moving quickly in the emergency response stage to future recovery and reconstruction. We believe that the best efforts are being made for the safety of the citizens," he said.

In addition to humanitarian assistance, 98 Resolution Network assesses the need for a thorough evaluation of forest management permit holders, especially regarding the impact of deforestation and fulfillment of environmental obligations such as reforestation.

"This evaluation is crucial. The impact of disasters is broad and the number of victims shows the need to rearrange forest management. The government must ensure that there are preventive and revitalization steps so that similar incidents do not continue to repeat themselves," added Rahman.

Representative of PT Pegadaian expressed his appreciation for this collaboration, while affirming the SOE's commitment to a targeted social program.
