Russia-Ukraine Still Attacking Each Other, Trump's Dream Peace Is Getting Closer To Samar

JAKARTA - A Russian drone hit a house in central Ukraine, killing a 12-year-old boy. Meanwhile, Ukraine's long-range attacks reportedly targeted Russia's port and oil refineries while US peace efforts continued without the public knowing.

US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner met Thursday in Miami with the Ukrainian delegation, but there has been no official confirmation whether the meeting will take place.

The scheduled negotiations came after discussions between President Vladimir Putin and US envoys in the Kremlin on Tuesday.

Previous diplomatic efforts to break the deadlock were fruitless and the war that had lasted nearly four years continued.

Officials have largely kept the latest developments of negotiations a secret, although Trump's original 28-point plan has been leaked.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said his country's delegation in Miami wanted to hear from the US about negotiations at the Kremlin.

Zelenskyy and European leaders who supported her have repeatedly accused Putin of stalling in peace negotiations while the Russian army is trying to continue its invasion.

Zelenskyy said in a video address late Thursday officials wanted to know "how much more was proposed by Putin to prolong the war and pressure Ukraine."

Meanwhile, Kremlin foreign affairs adviser Yuri Ushakov, who accompanied Putin on a visit to India on Friday, repeated Russia's latest criticism of Europe's stance on peace negotiations.

Kyiv allies in Europe are concerned about possible Russian aggression outside Ukraine and want a prospective peace agreement that includes strong security guarantees.

Kyiv's allies in Europe "continue to make demands that Moscow cannot accept," Ushakov told Russian government-owned Zvezda TV. "Simply speaking, the European side did not help Washington and Moscow reach a solution to Ukraine's problems," he said.
