JAKARTA - The DKI Provincial Government has yet to announce an increase in the Jakarta provincial minimum wage (UMP) for 2026.
Head of the DKI Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration and Energy Agency (Disnakertransgi), Syaripudin, said that the local government is preparing a discussion process, although the latest wage regulations from the central government for 2026 have not yet been issued.
Syaripudin claims that the discussion of the 2026 provincial sectoral UMP and minimum wage (UMSP) will be carried out openly. The wage fixing process will involve workers, employers, and government elements to maintain a balance between labor welfare and business sustainability.
"The determination of the UMP and UMSP is not only a matter of numbers, but about building a common understanding of business continuity and improving the welfare of workers. Therefore, every process and input from stakeholders means a lot," Syaripudin told reporters, Thursday, December 4.
The final wage regulation, namely the Minister of Manpower Regulation Number 16 of 2024, only regulates the determination of the minimum wage for 2025. This condition makes the region unable to move to the stage of determining the numbers for the following year.
"Meski demikian, Pemprov DKI Jakarta melalui Disnakertransgi tetap menjalankan berbagai langkah persiapan agar proses penetapan pembayaran nanti berjalan tepat waktu serta responsif terhadap kondisi pekerja dan dinamis ekonomi," sebutnya.
In the preparation stage, the DKI Wage Council held routine meetings to monitor various indicators, ranging from inflation, prices for basic necessities, to developments in industrial sectors in the capital city.
Studies on the welfare of cross-sectoral workers are also carried out. This process includes the implementation of a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) which presents representatives of workers and other stakeholders to describe the actual situation on the ground.
"The FGD regarding the direction of the wage policy is to ensure the preparation of policies based on technical input, worker perspectives, and business sector needs," said Syaripudin.
The provincial government also monitors and evaluates the implementation of the structure and scale of wages that have been running in companies. This finding will later become a basis for strengthening a fairer and more proportional wage policy.
The DKI Provincial Government has stated that it is ready to continue technical discussions once the central government releases the 2026 wage regulations. The process will be carried out with the Wage Council before being brought to the governor for stipulation.
"The results of the discussion will later become an official recommendation that will be determined through the Governor's Decree," he said.
After the 2026 UMP is determined, the discussion will continue with the preparation of UMSP. The determination of the UMSP, whose value must be above the UMP, is carried out through sectoral dialogue between workers and employers in each field.
"Through an inclusive, data-based, and collaborative process, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government hopes that the determination of the UMP and UMSP 2026 can produce policies that are fair, realistic, and able to support workers' welfare while keeping the business climate conducive," explained Syaripudin.
