BANDA ACEH - Airbus A-400 TNI Air Force (AU) aircraft carrying 24 tons of aid for victims of floods and landslides Aceh landed at Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport (SIM) on Wednesday (3/12).
"The TNI together with all related elements will continue to move quickly to ensure that all aid received can be immediately distributed to people in need. Any assistance is very meaningful to ease the burden on residents in the midst of current emergency conditions," said the Commander of the Iskandar Muda Military Regional Command (Pangdam IM), Major General Joko Hadi Susilo in Banda Aceh, Thursday, December 4.
He explained that the assistance for disaster victims who arrived at Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, with various important needs needed by the community in disaster-affected areas.
The assistance consists of ready-to-eat food, basic necessities, baby needs, and clothing, including health support, which is also present through the delivery of medical equipment and blood bags from the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), as well as medicines sent by the TNI Health Center to support health services in areas experiencing a shortage of drug supply.
In addition, satellite-based communication devices in the form of Starlink were also brought to strengthen communication networks in areas that are still isolated due to infrastructure damage and telecommunications network cuts.
"All of this assistance will soon be distributed in stages to various disaster-affected districts and cities in Aceh. Priority is given to areas that are facing limited access due to damaged bridges, landslide-covered roads, and extreme weather conditions that complicate transportation routes," he said.
He hopes that the presence of this assistance can accelerate the fulfillment of basic needs of the community, as well as support the smooth operation of humanity in the field.
"We express our high appreciation for the support and concern of all parties who have sent assistance to the people of Aceh. The synergy that has been built between ministries, government institutions, community organizations, and the TNI is a tangible manifestation of a shared commitment in helping people who are facing difficult times," he said.
Pangdam IM emphasized that the assistance was an important part of early rescue and recovery efforts in disaster-affected areas.
According to him, every aid that comes has a big meaning for residents, especially for those who still face difficulties in getting food, clothes, medicines, and health services.
Although the conditions on the ground are quite challenging with damaged road access, cut off bridges, and frequent extreme weather, he said, all of this will not hinder the enthusiasm of TNI soldiers in carrying out humanitarian tasks.
"Although the terrain and weather are quite difficult, it does not dampen the TNI's commitment to continue to be at the forefront. We make sure all personnel in the field work optimally while still prioritizing safety and acceleration of assistance," he said.
