West Java Police Check Line Readiness In Cirebon For Christmas And New Year

JAKARTA - The West Java Regional Police (West Java Police) has checked traffic routes, especially on toll roads in the Cirebon area, in preparation for securing the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year holidays.

West Java Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan said his party had received a direct explanation from the Cirebon Police regarding the readiness of personnel and supporting facilities for traffic security, on toll roads and arterial routes.

"We have heard what was conveyed by the Chief of Police, conveyed readiness, I am sure what has been conveyed (security scheme) will work," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 3.

According to him, there are several additional emphasiss given to the Cirebon Police to complete the readiness of operations in the field during the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 moments.

He revealed that the flow of vehicles passing through West Java, including Cirebon, is estimated to increase by around seven percent compared to the same period in 2024.

The increase in the flow of vehicles, he said, made the police must prepare anticipatory steps to reduce the potential for congestion at a number of points.

In addition, the Kapolda conveyed another emphasis given, namely on efforts to reduce the number of traffic accidents and fatality during the holiday period.

He said security on the aspect of crime was also strengthened, including anticipation of terrorism and conventional crimes such as theft and broken glass.

"It is also important that we anticipate a disaster. We have prepared this, there is a BPBD (Regional Disaster Management Agency), there will be other volunteers, including from the West Java Regional Police," he said.

Regarding infrastructure conditions, Rudi said that several roads, both toll roads and arteries, are still being repaired but are targeted to be completed before the peak of the holiday flow.

He said a number of other sections were expected to be completed on December 10, 2025, so they could be used normally.

The Kapolda said that the three-axis vehicle restrictions on the toll road were enforced from 14 to 19 December 2025 and were re-implemented until 4 January 2026.

Exceptions, he said, were only given to vehicles transporting basic necessities to maintain smooth distribution.

Rudi added that traffic engineering such as open-close and contraflow will be applied situationally to maintain the smooth flow of vehicles and prevent congestion.

"What we create is the comfort of the community to avoid congestion and accidents," he said.
