JAKARTA - The Chinese government hopes that no external party will interfere in Venezuela's domestic affairs because this violates the principles of the UN Charter.
"China opposes any action that violates the goals and principles of the UN Charter or violates the country's sovereignty and security, and opposes external interference in Venezuela's internal affairs under any pretext," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian told a news conference in Beijing, Wednesday, December 3.
"China calls on all parties to keep Latin America and the Caribbean a peaceful zone and prevent further escalation," continued Lin Jian.
