Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said President Prabowo Subianto held a meeting with the Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, to discuss developments in the national and global situation.

"During the meeting, the chairman of the DEN reported the development of the global and national economic situation," Teddy said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 3.

In addition, Luhut explained the progress of various strategic programs in the horticultural sector.

According to Teddy, Luhut also conveyed a number of important findings in the field of science and technology that are considered to have great potential to be developed in Indonesia.

"The meeting took place in a productive atmosphere as part of the government's efforts to strengthen economic resilience and encourage national innovation," said Teddy.

As previously reported, President Prabowo Subianto supports genetic banks (gene banks) to be formed immediately to maintain nutfah plasma considering that Indonesia is a country with a very high wealth of biodiversity (mega-biodiversity).

Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and Director of the Indonesian Herbal and Horticulture Science and Technology Park (TSTH2) Prof. Sri Fatmawati met President Prabowo at the Presidential Palace of the Republic of Indonesia, Jakarta, Wednesday (27/8), and discussed including the establishment of a bank gene and genome sequencing.

"One of the things we have to protect as a mega-biodiversity country, we have to have a bank gene. That's what we convey to President Prabowo, and he is very supportive to maintain Indonesian nutfah plasma," said Prof. Sri Fatmawati answered reporters' questions after meeting President Prabowo.

The genetic bank, said Fatmawati, will also be used to detect and preserve superior agricultural seeds.
