DKI Provincial Government Will Celebrate Christmas Again, Pramono: Made More Intimate

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has begun to prepare a series of celebrations for Christmas Day 2025. DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said that this year's implementation would be made more lively by involving crowded centers in the capital city.

Pramono said he had asked the ranks of the DKI Provincial Government not only to hold one big event. He wants a series of activities that residents can feel at various city points.

"For Christmas, I have asked the Christmas Committee to hold an activity, not only the big one event then finished. I prefer that Jakarta be made more lively," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, December 3.

In previous years, the DKI Provincial Government held a Christmas Carol celebration to enliven it. This event will take place in various public spaces for several days.

Usually, this event features a special Christmas choir and music that can be enjoyed by the public. In addition to presenting a solemn atmosphere, Christmas Carol is also an attraction for residents who want to enjoy the beauty of public spaces and tourist destinations in Jakarta.

According to Pramono, the government provides space for shopping centers, carpentry areas, and other public areas to participate in arranging Christmas decorations. A number of locations that had previously gone viral because their arrangement were also re-barreled to display their creations.

"So why did we allow some crowded centers at the beginning, bent and so on for them to decoration, organize ourselves including some that went viral."

He added that the DKI Provincial Government has also opened up opportunities for organizing music performances along the corridors of Sudirman, Thamrin, to Gatot Subroto to increase the atmosphere of celebration.

"Later, I will also allow them to sing Sudirman, Tamrin, Gatot Subroto and so on. That's what I really want for Jakarta to be more vibrant, more interesting," explained Pramono.

Meanwhile, for the 2026 New Year celebration, Pramono emphasized that the concept is not much different from the previous years. The DKI Provincial Government will still concentrate activities on several main points.

"The New Year's plan is still as it used to be, centered in 2-3 places, but what is clear is that the main thing is at the HI Roundabout, then at Monas and there are also proposals whether it's Ancol or at the Banteng Field," he added.
