JAKARTA - The Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong opened an emergency post to ensure the protection and service of Indonesian citizens (WNI) who were affected by a severe fire at the Wang Fuk Court Apartment Complex, Tai Po, Hong Kong.

"Based on the results of coordination with the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF), to date, Indonesian citizens (WNI) who have become victims of death total 7 (seven) people, all women and Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) in the domestic sector," explained the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong in his statement, Saturday (29/11).

"One Indonesian citizen/PMI is still receiving treatment at the hospital, but is in a stable condition and waiting for recovery," added the Indonesian Consulate General.

The Indonesian Consulate General further explained, based on the results of consolidation of employment data and direct field verification carried out by the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong, it was recorded that around 140 (one hundred) Indonesian citizens/PMI in the domestic sector worked in the Wang Fuk Court residential area.

"Of these, 61 (sixty-one) people have been confirmed their whereabouts and conditions, including Indonesian citizens/PMI who died. Meanwhile, 79 (seventy-nine) Indonesian citizens/PMI are still being verified for their whereabouts and conditions," explained the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong.
