BANDA ACEH - Banda Aceh Basarnas evacuated students and teachers and people who were trapped in floods for two days in the school complex in Pante Gelima, Meureudu District, Pidie Jaya Regency.

The Commander of the Banda Aceh Basarnas Rescue Team, Maimun, said the evacuation process took place on Friday (28/11) at 12.35 WIB.

"A total of 100 people were successfully evacuated from the IT Pante Gelima School Complex. The victims were students, teachers, and the surrounding community who were trapped in the flood," Maimun said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, November 28.

Maimun reported that they had been isolated since Wednesday (26/11) or the first day of the flood disaster in the area. They were in the school complex to avoid flooding but were eventually trapped.

Furthermore, said Maimun, the victims affected by the flood were taken to the post in a safe condition. Some students have also been picked up by their respective parents.

During the evacuation process, he said, the team received a report that someone in Gampong Meunasah Lhok, Meureudu District, Pidie Jaya Regency, needed evacuation because a 50-year-old man left the world.

"The man's body was evacuated to the Pidie Jaya Regional General Hospital (RSUD). Meanwhile, the total number of students who were evacuated was 55 students, 10 teachers, and 35 people living around the school complex," he said.

Maimun said that after the evacuation process for students and teachers and the community at the school complex, the team shifted to other evacuation locations, including Meurah Dua District.

"The evacuation process for flood-affected victims is still ongoing. We have received many reports of people who are still trapped in the flood and need evacuation," said Maimun.
