Prabowo To Parents Of Students: If The Teacher Is Hard, Maybe Your Child Is Naughty

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto mentioned the phenomenon of student delinquency to the impudent attitude towards teachers that is still happening today. At the peak of the 2025 National Teacher's Day Commemoration, Prabowo reminded the importance of the role of parents and schools in maintaining student discipline.

Prabowo also said that teacher firmness to students is part of character education and should not be immediately considered a wrong act.

"If my teachers were not firm, not hard with me, I can't stand here. So hey parents everywhere, if teachers are harsh, maybe your child is naughty," said Prabowo, Friday, November 28.

Prabowo then highlighted the differences between students who were just naughty and rude behavior. If students have been rude, according to Prabowo, it can no longer be tolerated.

"There is a phenomenon that sometimes it's okay if you're naughty. But if you're rude, it's not right. Sometimes there are students who are rude, right? He's reprimanded by the teacher for replying. He feels he's a champion," he said.

Prabowo also shared his experience when he was Minister of Defense. He received reports about students who were rude to knock on the door roughly to his teacher at a school under the Ministry of Defense. The principal took firm action.

"Someone swerved the door, the principal immediately stopped the child," said Prabowo.

However, Prabowo told, the principal had doubts after learning that the student was the son of a general. However, Prabowo emphasized that the decision was correct.

"The principal of the school called me, I said don't hesitate, where the general told me to meet. If his father is a big man, his son must be more polite, better, don't be rude," he said.

Furthermore, Prabowo emphasized that teachers need to get full protection and support when carrying out disciplinary duties in schools. He also asked the Ministry of Education to provide space for teachers to enforce the rules.

"The Minister of Education should not hesitate, we must support teachers. That's why all Indonesian children always ask for their parents' love, respect the teacher," said Prabowo.
