BANDA ACEH The number of victims of hydrometeorological disasters that hit Aceh continues to grow. As of Thursday 27 November 2025, a total of 22 people were reported to have died due to floods and landslides that occurred in a number of districts/cities.
Data from the Aceh Disaster Management Agency (BPBA) noted that the most fatalities came from Central Aceh Regency with 15 people dying. Followed by North Aceh four people, Bener Meriah one person, and Southeast Aceh two people.
In addition to the death toll, this disaster also had a major impact on the population. A total of 119,988 people or 3,817 families were affected by floods and landslides, while 20,759 people (6,998 families) were forced to flee to safer locations.
Disasters triggered by high rainfall, strong winds, and unstable geological conditions hit 16 districts/cities, including Pidie, Aceh Besar, Pidie Jaya, Aceh Tamiang, Southeast Aceh, West Aceh, Subulussalam, Bireuen, Lhokseumawe, East Aceh, Langsa, Bener Meriah, Gayo Lues, Aceh Singkil, North Aceh, and South Aceh.
Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf or Mualem has declared an emergency response status for a hydrometeorological disaster for 14 days, from November 28 to December 11, 2025.
"This determination is made to accelerate the handling process, including logistics mobilization, evacuation, and cross-institutional coordination," said Muzakir, quoted by Antara, Friday, November 28.
In some areas, conditions are increasingly worrying as a result of the cut off access. Central Aceh and Bener Meriah districts became two isolated areas because the main route was closed by landslides. "Central Aceh today is really under siege," said the Regent of Central Aceh, Haili Yoga, detailing a number of landslide points that closed access to the area.

Meanwhile, PLN and Telkom Group are working to accelerate the recovery of electricity and telecommunications services which were paralyzed due to damage to infrastructure.
The hydrometeorological disaster in Aceh is estimated to still have the potential to continue in line with extreme weather conditions in the region.
