The joint SAR team will continue to search for seven missing victims of the flash flood disaster that occurred in Jorong (Dusun) Toboh, Nagari (village) East Malalak, Malalak District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra (West Sumatra) on Friday (28/11).
"We are still looking for seven missing victims," said Padang Basarnas personnel Rian Agus Putra in Agam Regency, Thursday, November 27, as reported by ANTARA.
Rian explained that based on data updates on Thursday afternoon at around 17.46 WIB, there were duplicate data on the dead victims who had been evacuated.
At first, the SAR team received reports that 10 people died, but after being re-checked, only eight people.
"Initially we reported that 10 victims died, but a few moments later there was data update because there was duplicate data so that the number of people who died was eight people," he said.
This means that there are still seven missing victims who have not yet been found and the search will continue on Friday (28/11) morning.
The cessation of the search on Thursday afternoon was also due to the unfavorable weather due to heavy rains and strong winds.
"For the time being, we have stopped the search because the intensity of the rain was quite high at the scene," he said.
According to him, if the search for victims continues to be forced, it is very risky for the joint SAR team. Moreover, around the scene, there are hills and terrain that is quite steep.
"So, we have temporarily suspended operations because we are afraid of further landslides and endangering the related teams," he explained.
