The Indonesian Consulate General In Hong Kong Ensures Assistance To Indonesian Citizens Who Become Victims Of Apartment Fires

The Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong has confirmed the provision of assistance to Indonesian citizens (WNI) who were victims of apartment fires in Hong Kong, including coordinating with local authorities and monitoring developments in the situation.

"From the results of intensive coordination between the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF), information has been obtained so far, 2 (two) Indonesian citizens have died and 2 (two) others have been injured," said the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement, Thursday (27/11).

"All victims are Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) in the domestic sector," said the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs ensures that the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong continues to coordinate with local authorities and other related parties to monitor the development of the situation and provide further assistance to affected Indonesian citizens, including the provision of temporary shelters and logistics at the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong.

It is said that the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong has contacted the affected Indonesian families to convey their deep concern and condolences and provide clarity of information as well as inform the next handling steps.

The Indonesian Consulate General also continues to coordinate with local authorities and labor agencies, the local government to manage the repatriation of corpses and related rights.

A massive fire scorched seven buildings at the Wang Fuk Court Apartment Complex, Tai Po, Hong Kong, which took place on Wednesday, as quoted by CNN.

At least 44 people died as a result of the fire, while about 300 others were missing.

Local authorities said they had managed to control the fire in four blocks, while outage efforts were ongoing in three other blocks, with outage efforts having been carried out for more than 15 hours.
