CILACAP - The National Narcotics Agency of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (BNNP DIY) has tightened supervision of narcotics trafficking ahead of the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year holidays. Personnel are placed at various entrances to the DIY area, from airports, stations to terminals.
Head of the DIY BNNP Eradication Division, Kombes Trisaksono Puspo Adji, said that this increase in supervision was carried out on people suspected of bringing narcotics to the DIY area.
"Towards Christmas and New Year, we carry out various prevention efforts, including at entrances from outside the city, at airports, train stations, and bus terminals for people suspected of carrying narcotics," Trisaksono said as quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 27.
The supervision was carried out together with the police, TNI, Customs and Excise, and Satpol PP. According to Trisaksono, cross-institutional collaboration is important because mobility flows usually increase during long holidays.
BNNP DIY has placed at least three personnel at each entrance, including Yogyakarta International Airport, stations, and bus terminals to ensure the movement of people and goods remains monitored.
"At the airport, at the train station, at the bus terminal, we place our members at least three people," he said.
He also appealed to the public to increase vigilance. Public reports through the hotline, he said, are still an important element in early detection of potential narcotics trafficking.
"Once we get information from residents, we will immediately make efforts to improve," he said.

In addition to placing personnel, BNNP DIY also held joint raids as a step to strengthen supervision ahead of Nataru. From this activity, officers confiscated 12 packages of methamphetamine ready for distribution which were allegedly sent from outside the region through a communication network that investigators were still investigating.
"We have arrested the suspect, and are currently carrying out the legal process," he said.
