Winners Of The Master Plan Competition At The Majapahit Museum Are Announced, This Is The Winner

JAKARTA Minister of Culture Fadli Zon officially announced the Winner of the Master Plan Competition at the Majapahit Museum in Jakarta, Tuesday (11/25/2025). The competition, which was held with the Indonesian Architects Association (IAI), produced the three best works and two works of appreciation which will be a reference for the preparation of the final master plan of the museum.

In his statement, Fadli emphasized that the construction of the Majapahit Museum is a strategic step to strengthen the protection of cultural heritage. Therefore, planning must be mature and representative. Indonesian cultural assets must be protected, preserved, utilized, and developed. The Majapahit Museum must represent the greatness of Majapahit," he said.

The Majapahit Museum is designed to be the most complete museum of Majapahit civilization. The design that is sought is not just an architectural form, but a cultural strategy that describes maritime values, agrarianity, tolerance, and diversity. We build based on the principle of uncover the past, understand the present, shape the future," said Fadli.

The competition lasted five months, from June to October 2025, through the process of collecting works, technical selection, to judging. The master plan is located in the Torowulan area, East Java, with a total land of more than 10 hectares.

The first winner is 'Surya Majapahit' by team Ar. Thoat Fauzi. The second winner of 'Chhatra Pustaka' by team Ar. Aris Munandar, and the third winner of Jiwa Wilwatakta' by the Revianto team Budi Santosa. Two works of appreciation were given to Mewayu Hayuning Buwana (Ar. Haidar Majid D.) and Sumunaring Nusa Maja (Ar. Hernowo Muliawan).

Fadli said the works showed an in-depth understanding of how museums can become a node of national preservation, education and pride. Congratulations to the winners. May this museum become a new icon of Indonesian cultural heritage," he concluded.
