Rano Karno Makes Sure To Attend 212 Reunion At Monas

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno admitted that he would attend the 212 Reunion in the National Monument (Monas) area on December 2. Rano will come if he does not have a work agenda that is scheduled at the same time.

"God willing, we will be invited, we will come," said Rano at Pullman Jakarta Central Park, West Jakarta, Tuesday, November 25.

Regarding the preparations for organizing the event, Rano admitted that the committee had applied for a Monas license to the DKI Provincial Government. However, according to him, the committee also needs to obtain other permits such as crowd permits by the police.

"Actually, if it's called Monas, it's not only the DKI Provincial Government, the permit. But God willing, the Governor, the Deputy Governor, will also be invited," he said.

Meanwhile, the 212 Reunion committee claimed to have received direct support from DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung for the 212 Reunion. This claim was submitted after a committee meeting with Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday, November 19.

"We have obtained permission (to hold the 212 Reunion and we immediately had an audience with Pak Pramono Anung at the City Hall directly," said Public Relations of the 212 Reunion Committee, Novel Bamukmin to reporters, Monday, November 24.

Novel claimed that during the meeting, Pramono expressed his support so that the activity could take place in an orderly manner. Pramono is said to be present at the 212 Reunion.

"At the same time we invited him to attend and he was ready to attend the 212 Reunion. The Governor said that the Regional Government would provide full support so that the reunion would run smoothly, orderly and peacefully," he said.

In fact, Novel said that a number of regional apparatus leaders in DKI Jakarta were also directed by Pramono to support the technical implementation.

"The governor also directed that OPD leaders such as Kadishub, Kesbangpol, Satpol PP, Dinas LH, and mayors fully support this activity," he explained.

Reunion 212 is an annual activity that began with the December 2, 2016 Action, to be precise a major demonstration at Monas regarding the demand for a blasphemy case against former DKI Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama. Since 2017, this activity has been regularly held in a prayer format and declaration from a number of figures.
