SLEMAN - Student solidarity movement is again stretched at Yogyakarta State University (UNY). Through the DHARMA #3 (Student Blood Donor) activity, BEM KM FIP UNY 2025 held a blood donation on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the IDB Building on the 3rd floor of the Faculty of Education.
This program is designed not only to help fulfill national blood stocks, but also to build a culture of social concern in the campus environment.
This blood donation action is part of the Red Heroes Project, an educational and humanitarian initiative attended by a group of students consisting of Andita, Chelsy, Neysa, and Sharon Larasati.
This initiative emphasizes the importance of health literacy and increasing public awareness of social issues, as well as supporting the achievement of SDGs 3 Sustainable Development Goals regarding health and welfare, as well as SDGs 4 regarding quality education.
The activity took place through collaboration between BEM KM FIP UNY and Gadjah Mada University (UGM), with the support of medical personnel from the Blood Donor Unit (UDD PMI) which handles the entire process of taking and managing blood.
The four group members act double as donors, one of which is active donors and as a documentation team to produce educational content regarding blood donation.
The donor process, starting from registration, health checks, to blood collection, is recorded and packaged into educational videos which are then uploaded to social media. This content aims to expand public understanding, especially students, regarding the benefits of blood donation and standard procedures.
"The blood donation activities that we carried out in the Red Heroes Project were followed by the making of educational videos containing information about the benefits of blood donation, the implementation process, and the importance of increasing health literacy among students," said Sharon Larasati representing the team.
The video also features testimonials from Chelsy, one of the donor participants. "It turns out that blood donation is not painful and with a little blood that we donate can help save others," he said.
Although the number of direct donors is only one person, the impact of the activity is widespread thanks to the distribution of educational content that reaches more people through social media. This strategy strengthens the contribution to SDGs 3 through support for the availability of safe blood for health services, as well as SDGs 4 through increasing public understanding of blood donors.
