JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto chaired the inaugural limited meeting (ratas) with the Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency or BRIN Arif Satria, Monday, November 24.

The meeting was to discuss the role of Regional BRIN and strengthen research and innovation collaboration, including with Danantara.

Arif Satria said this meeting was the first since he was sworn in as Head of BRIN as of Monday 10 November.

"Yes, today we started a discussion with the President," he told the media crew when he arrived at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, at around 14.00 WIB, which was confiscated by Antara.

Arif said the main ingredients that had been prepared included the achievements and plans to strengthen national innovation, especially in the food, energy, and various research projects that were being developed by BRIN together with other research institutions in Indonesia.

Arif explained that BRIN is encouraging the acceleration of cross-ministerial collaboration so that government policies are increasingly based on research results.

In addition, the national development program is also expected to further take advantage of innovation products that have been produced by researchers.

"The point is, how do we accelerate collaboration so that policies based on research and development can take advantage of domestic innovation," he said.

He also stated a plan to strengthen cooperation with Danantara, a national strategic investment institution.

BRIN, said Arif, is ready to strengthen research and development activities that support the business lines of companies under the Danantara. A special meeting between BRIN and Danantara is scheduled to take place in the near future.

Arif also highlighted the importance of empowering Regional BRIN (BRIDA) to strengthen downstream innovation at the local level.

With BRIDA currently present in various provinces and cities, BRIN wants to ensure that innovations from universities and research institutions can be applied in real terms to solve regional problems.

"Because this area, if the innovation is strong, then it can support the regional economy, I think it can maintain national economic growth stability," he said.

For this reason, BRIN will increase the involvement of researchers in the regions and strengthen collaboration with universities through science and technology areas to accelerate the use of research for regional and national development needs.
