Ulama Scheduled To Meet At Islamic Boarding School Lirboyo Kediri Bahas Polemic PBNU

JAKARTA - General Chairperson of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board Yahya Cholil Staquf said the scholars were scheduled to meet at the Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School, Kediri, East Java, to discuss the polemic that was taking place within the largest Islamic organization in Indonesia.

"God willing, a wider meeting will be held by presenting senior kiai (more senior) and leadership elements within NU, where the host is the Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School in Kediri," he told reporters at the PBNU Headquarters, Central Jakarta, Sunday (23/11) night.

However, Yahya said PBNU had not yet agreed on a definite date for the meeting.

"But the agreement between the kiai has been reached, the meeting will soon be held. Hopefully, it can open a way out of the current problems," he said.

Yahya emphasized that as an organization, NU already has a clear system of rules or constitution.

"So statements or interpretations, both verbal and written from anyone, must all be measured by the rules and regulations in the organizational constitution system," he said.

In the friendship which was attended by about 50 kiai from various regions from East Java, Central Java, West Java, to North Sumatra, Yahya said religious scholars regretted what happened in the Sharia daily meeting along with the news that urged him to resign from the position of Chairman of PBNU.

"Everyone wants that everything that becomes a problem in the organization to be returned to the Articles of Association / Bylaws (AD / ART) is returned to the existing regulatory system and even though there are shortcomings, obstacles must be resolved together without developing conflicts between the existing leadership ranks," he explained.

The mistake of the PBNU Sharia daily meeting was widely circulated and became the talk of netizens on social media. The mistake contained Rais Aam and Deputy Rais Aam PBNU's decision to ask Yahya Cholil Staquf to resign from the position of Chairman of PBNU.

The Sharia Daily Meeting was held in Jakarta, Thursday (20/11), which was attended by 37 out of 53 PBNU sharia daily administrators. The meeting's guilt was signed by the chairperson of the PBNU meeting and Rais Aam KH Miftachul Akhyar.

Yahya clarified that until now he had not received an official letter in any form related to the internal issues circulating.

Meanwhile, PBNU Secretary General Saifullah Yusuf also called on all NU administrators at all levels starting from PBNU, PWNU, PCNU, MWCNU to Ratting NU to remain calm and keep the atmosphere conducive to the dynamics that are happening within the organization.
