Korlantas: Ratification Of Annual STNK Does Not Need BPKB

JAKARTA - Director of Registration and Identification (Dirregident) of the Traffic Corps (Korlantas) of the National Police Brigadier General Pol. Wibowo emphasized that the ratification of the annual STNK does not require BPKB documents.

Wibowo in Jakarta, Saturday, said that this policy refers to the Road Traffic and Transportation Law (LLAJ) Number 22 of 2009 and Perpol Number 7 of 2021 concerning Motor Vehicle Registration and Identification.

"BPKB is valid once for each ownership. As long as the vehicle has not changed its owner, the BPKB remains valid and does not need to be brought up during the ratification of the annual STNK," he said.

As for the provisions for the ratification of the annual STNK, Wibowo explained that the ratification could be done through two mechanisms.

First, the public can legally ratify it by coming directly to the Samsat service office. Second, it can be done through digital means through the official application of the Korlantas Polri Samsat Online SIGNAL.

"In the ratification of annual STNK, both manually and through the SIGNAL application, the public does not need to bring a BPKB. It is enough to bring an ID card, a power of attorney if represented, and an original STNK," he said.

He said the SIGNAL service was here to make it easier for the public to pay taxes and ratify STNK every year until the 4th year without having to come to the Samsat office.

However, when entering the 5th year, the extension of the STNK must be carried out manually at the Samsat office.

At this stage, people are required to bring, original ID cards, power of attorney (if represented), STNK, BPKB, and vehicles for physical checks.

"BPKB and physical checks are needed to ensure the suitability of the identity of the vehicle, including the frame number and engine number, with the documents they have. This is an important step to maintain the validity of the data and prevent the misuse of vehicle documents," he said.
