Police Reveal The Mode Of Robbers Under The Guise Of Romance In Jatiasih, Five Perpetrators Arrested

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya revealed the mode of crime used by a criminal gang against a teenager with the initials H (19) in the Jatiasih area, Bekasi City. The perpetrators used a begal scheme under the guise of a romantic relationship' to lure victims to the location they had prepared.

The Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, explained that the victim previously met a woman through social media. The woman then asked to meet, then directed the victim to Jalan Benda, Jatiasih, in the early hours of Sunday, November 16.

"When the victim arrived at the location, another perpetrator appeared and immediately pointed a sickle and committed violence to seize the victim's motorbike and belongings," said Budi, in his statement Saturday, November 22, 2025.

He emphasized that this mode is a serious concern for the police because it often takes victims, especially teenagers.

After the incident, the victim suffered injuries to his back and reported to the Jati Asih Police.

Following up on the report, the Metro Jaya Police Resmob Team conducted a crime scene investigation, examined witnesses, and traced CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators. The results of the investigation led to five perpetrators, consisting of two women and three men.

"They have different roles ranging from feeders, jockeys, to executors," he explained

On Monday 17 November 2025, the police arrested all the perpetrators in three different locations in the Bekasi area. One other perpetrator with the initials R is still being hunted.

"This disclosure is a form of Polri's commitment to provide a sense of security to the community and take firm action against street crimes," he concluded.

During the arrest, the police also confiscated evidence in the form of two sickle blades, two motorbikes, and clothes used during the action. Meanwhile, the perpetrator was charged with Article 365 of the Criminal Code regarding violent theft.
