The Determination Of The Amount Of The 2026 UMP Is Still Waiting For The Results Of The Tripartite Meeting

The government has not announced the official figure of the provincial minimum wage (UMP) 2026 because it is still waiting for the results of the cross-ministerial and related institutions tripartite meeting. The discussion is still ongoing and involves various stakeholders.

Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian said the determination of the UMP cannot be carried out in a hurry because it involves many parties, including employers, workers, and local governments.

"The meeting involved the Ministry of Manpower, then later there will be the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, then later there will also be the Ministry of Trade, then the Ministry of Economy," said Tito, Thursday, November 20.

Tito said the UMP was closely related to regional conditions, so the Ministry of Home Affairs was also involved to provide views on regional fiscal capabilities, social conditions, and economic disparities in each region.

Tito assessed that a data-based approach from the regions is important so that decisions do not burden employers, but still protect workers.

According to him, the discussion of the UMP will also involve the Indonesian Employers' Association (Apindo), the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), and trade unions.

Tito emphasized that until now the government is still in the brewing stage and there has been no final decision. He ensured that the final decision remained with the Ministry of Manpower after receiving input from all parties.

"The UMP will be announced later from the Ministry of Manpower. We will provide input," he concluded.
