The Batang Regency Government (Pemkab), Central Java, temporarily closed the liquid waste disposal activity of a textile industry into the river after the laboratory test results showed that the waste content exceeded quality standards.
Batang Regent Faiz Kurniawan said, of the three companies examined, one of them was proven to have committed serious violations related to waste disposal.
"From the three companies we took samples some time ago, the results of laboratory tests showed that one was proven to have committed a violation," he said in Batang, Antara, Tuesday, November 18.
The company's liquid waste content exceeds the standard water quality threshold. This finding is a strong basis for the Batang Regency Government to temporarily stop the company's waste disposal activities.
"With the laboratory results, I have ordered the temporary closure of the company's waste disposal," he said.
The district government also asked the Environment Agency (DLH) to calculate the amount of fines to be imposed, adjusted to the level of violation and the impact of the pollution that occurred. In addition, the company was asked to submit a roadmap for repairing Wastewater Processing Installations (IPAL), including the target time for completion.
The head of DLH Batang, Rusmanto, added that his party took liquid waste samples at a number of points and sent them to the Environmental Laboratory Center in Semarang for quality testing.
The samples were taken on October 8, 2025, as well as special samples from three companies PT Mafaftex, PT Sukorintex, and PT Primatex on October 27, 2025.
DLH has banned companies that violate to dump waste into rivers until the IPAL system is completely repaired.
