Pramono's Reason For Changing The Name Of The Red Land Into A Land Of Hope

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung explained the reason why he changed the name of the Tanah Merah area in North Jakarta to Tanah Harapan which was inaugurated today. Pramono claims he wants to pay more attention to residents living in the area by providing basic services and infrastructure during his leadership in Jakarta.

"Then his name becomes the Land of Hope? Because I really want this place to bring new hope. I want this to be much cooler, that's it," Pramono said at the inauguration of the naming of Tanah Harapan, North Jakarta, Tuesday, November 18.

Tanah Merah has a fairly complex polemic during the previous governors of DKI Jakarta. Residents of Tanah Merah have been dealing with land disputes with Pertamina for a long time.

Tanah Merah pun menjadi sasaran politik di Pilkada DKI Jakarta sejak bertahun-tahun lalu. Banyak janji yang dilembangkan kepada mereka. Agar lebih diakui, warga Tanah Merah akhirnya dibuatkan KTP oleh Pemprov DKI saat kepemimpinan mantan Gubernur DKI Jakarta Joko Widodo.

Then, when Anies Baswedan served as Governor of DKI, the DKI Provincial Government granted a building permit (IMB) for the residents of Tanah Merah so that access to basic infrastructure could enter the area.

Now, Pramono wants the DKI Provincial Government to pay more attention to the needs of the residents of Tanah Merah, which is now the Land of Hope from this name change.

"In the past, people in Tanah Merah were always mentioned at that time. They were hesitant about their identity, with all their requirements to become validity. For that, through Governor's Decree Number 973 of 2025, I fully decided that this Land of Hope is equal to its rights and positions with other regions," said Pramono.

After the name change, Pramono promised to arrange infrastructure in Tanah Harapan in the form of road construction, channels, gates, vertical gardens, PAM networks, lighting lights, and installing sheet piles. Where, some areas have not been touched by physical development.

This name change is also accompanied by the opening of access to social services. Government assistance, which previously could not be distributed as a whole, can now be provided without administrative restrictions.

"So that matters related to social assistance owned by the DKI Jakarta Government can now be fully carried out here, including KJP, KJMU, then bleaching diplomas, legal assistance posts, the establishment of the Red and White Cooperative, and so on, "explained Pramono.

"For that, there is no need for changes or new administrative completeness. Everything is the same," he continued.

For information, Tanah Harapan Village includes six RWs spread across three sub-districts and two sub-districts, namely:- RW 08, 09, 10, and 11 in Rawa Badak Selatan Village, Koja District;- RW 07 in Tugu Selatan Village, Koja District;- RW 22 in Kelapa Gading Barat Village, Kelapa Gading District.
