KPK Reads The Indictment Of Money Laundering Former Supreme Court Secretary Nurhadi Today

JAKARTA - The Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will read out the indictment of money laundering (TPPU) former Secretary of the Constitutional Court (MK) Nurhadi at the Jakarta Corruption Court today, November 18. All findings will be presented in front of the panel of judges.

"In the early stages of this criminal trial process, the KPK prosecutor team will read out the indictment before the defendant and the panel of judges regarding the criminal acts charged, time, and place of the case," said KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo to reporters in his statement, Tuesday, November 18.

"Previously, investigators had completed the investigation process, including confiscating a number of assets for the needs of the proof process as well as the first step in optimizing asset recovery," he continued.

Budi said the public could continue to monitor the proceedings of the court. "The trial is open, as a form of transparency in the legal process," he said.

The KPK previously again arrested former Supreme Court Secretary Nurhadi for alleged money laundering (TPPU). Even though he had just been released from the Sukamiskin Class I Prison, Bandung, West Java after serving a sentence related to bribery and gratification cases.

In this case, investigators confiscated a number of assets. Among them are oil palm land confiscated in the Padang Lawas Regency area, North Sumatra.

The result of this land is said to be the anti-corruption commission reaching Rp1.6 billion.

Then, the oil palm land was also confiscated for around Rp. 3 billion last July. So, in total there are Rp. 4.6 billion, palm oil results taken by the anti-corruption commission.

Meanwhile, Nurhadi was sentenced to six years in prison in connection with bribery and gratification cases and was sentenced to a fine of Rp. 500 million, subsidiary to three months in prison.

Even so, Nurhadi was not sentenced to pay compensation of Rp. 83 billion in the Supreme Court decision number: 4147 K/Pid.Sus/2021 dated December 24, 2021. This is because the demands of the KPK prosecutors were not granted by the panel of judges.
