GARUT - The Garut Regency Government, West Java, has proposed a budget of Rp800 billion to the central government to build a bridge damaged by natural disasters into a permanent bridge in Peundeuy District.
"We have made a letter asking for assistance, if I'm not mistaken, the budget is up to Rp800 billion to build a permanent bridge," said Garut Regent Abdusy Syakur Amin as reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 17.
He said that the ranks of various regional work units (SKPD) within the Garut Regency Government had moved quickly when they received reports of natural disasters during this rainy season.
Like the incident of a damaged bridge connecting Toblong Village with Sukanagara Village, Peundeuy District, he said, it was immediately handled by the local government and then submitted to the central government and received support from members of the Indonesian Parliament from Garut to be repaired immediately.
"We have also contacted BNPB (National Disaster Management Agency), and were present at Garut to conduct an evaluation in the field," he said.
He conveyed that the local government had tried to submit a proposal for the construction of the bridge, which was then technically handed over to the central government.
He hopes that the central government can immediately realize the proposal so that the community can return to using a sturdy, safe, and comfortable bridge for the mobilization of people and motorized vehicles.
"The central government is more flexible, it does not depend on the fiscal year, it can be 2026, maybe even sooner because I ask that this is very important for the community," he said.
Previously, the suspension bridge in Toblong Village, Pelundeuy District, southern Garut, was damaged due to the impact of extreme weather, Friday (7/11/2024) evening.
The suspension bridge that stretched the Cikaengan River was heavily damaged so that it could no longer be used for public access, so it had to turn the direction further away.
The police have installed a police line as a warning sign so that people cannot approach or use the damaged bridge.
