JAKARTA - A number of workers from various trade unions held a demonstration in front of the DKI Jakarta City Hall. They demand an increase in the provincial minimum wage (UMP) with high value next year.

Chairman of DPD FSP LEM DKI Jakarta Yusuf Suprapto admitted that the workers in Jakarta are jealous of the district/city minimum wage value in the buffer zone which has been bigger than Jakarta.

"We all know that DKI Jakarta has so far been defeated by countries or areas in its vicinity, buffer areas from Bekasi City, then Bekasi Regency, and also Kerawang Regency, and so on," Yusuf said at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Monday, November 17.

In 2025, the highest minimum wage in Indonesia is in Bekasi City with a value of IDR 5.69 million. Then, the UMK of Karawang Regency is IDR 5.59 million, Bekasi Regency is IDR 5.39 million. DKI Jakarta occupies the fourth position with a UMP of IDR 5.39 million.

According to Yusuf, this has become an anomaly. Given, Jakarta is the capital city that is the center of the economy in Indonesia. In fact, Jakarta is projected to become a global city as the capital city moves to the archipelago.

"Masak ada provinsi yang terbesar, kemudian juga menjadi Ibu Kota, bahkan kota global katanya, tetapi uangnya masih di bawah atau kalah jauh dibandingkan dengan daerah penyanggung," ungkap Yusuf.

Therefore, this group of workers who are members of the Federation of Workers Unions in Jakarta demands that DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung set the DKI Jakarta UMP in 2025 at IDR 6 million.

"We are DKI Jakarta workers, DKI Jakarta workers, who will demand a UMP of 6 million rupiah. That the 6 million figure is a decent figure and a figure that can meet the needs of a decent living for workers in DKI Jakarta," explained Yusuf.

In addition, workers also demand a determination of the provincial sectoral minimum wage (UMSP) with a minimum value of 5 percent above the UMP which has been increased in 2026.

"Don't let it touch what is called the existing sectoral wage last year and then want to be eliminated. We ask that it be returned, as in the previous existing ministerial regulations, 5 percent above the provincial minimum wage in DKI Jakarta," he concluded.
