Bad Weather, Engines Died: 4 Crew Members Of Fishing Boats Successfully Evacuated By Basarnas In Sebuku Waters

The National SAR Agency (Basarnas) of the Bakauheni SAR Post managed to evacuate four crew members (ABK) of fishing boats who experienced engine failure in the waters of Sebuku Island, South Lampung Regency.

Head of Bakauheni SAR Post, Rezie Kuswara, said the four fishermen had been adrift in the sea since Thursday, November 13 after their ship suffered engine failure.

"Yes, that's right, today we evacuated four fishermen who were stranded in the waters of Sebuku Island, due to the boat that had been carrying out the engine since last Thursday," he said in South Lampung, Antara, Sunday, November 16.

Rezie explained that the search and rescue operation began with reports from the public who knew that fishermen were stranded and needed help.

On Thursday, November 13, 2025 at around 18.00 WIB, four fishermen departed from Mutun Beach to look for fish around the waters of Sebuku Island, and at that time the weather was bad. Suddenly their ship had an engine failure. They tried to revive the engine, but due to bad weather, the effort failed," he said.

He added that the latest information was received on Sunday morning when one of the crew members managed to contact his colleague who worked at the Pesawaran BPBD to ask for help. BPBD then forwarded the report to the Lampung SAR Office.

"At 06.35 WIB, one crew member contacted his friend at the Pesawaran BPBD, and the information was forwarded to Kansar Lampung for evacuation assistance," he said.
