Langkat Police Arrest 2 Students Perpetrators Of Extortion Of Entrepreneurs

Langkat Police, North Sumatra, arrested two youths claiming to be DFN (23) and RDM (24) students, extortionists against excavation entrepreneur C with evidence of Rp10 million in cash and two mobile phones.

Langkat Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Ghulam Yanuar Lutfi said the case began on Wednesday (12/11) when the reporter received a WhatsApp message from DFN which threatened to hold a demonstration at the Langkat Police Headquarters regarding the complainant's excavation C business.

The demonstration will be canceled if the complainant fulfills the request for Rp. 15 million from the suspect. Responding to the request, the reporter finally arranged a meeting with the perpetrator at a cafe in Stabat.

Furthermore, on Thursday night (13/11) the reporter again met DFN at a cafe on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman and handed over Rp10 million to the perpetrators.

The Langkat Police Sat Reskrim Pidum Opsnal team, which received the report, immediately moved quickly. At the same location and time, officers immediately secured DFN along with cash from extortion.

From the initial interrogation, the perpetrator admitted his actions and revealed the role of his colleague It didn't take long for the team to develop and successfully secure the second perpetrator, RDM.

The evidence that was also secured included Rp10 million in cash, one Samsung Galaxy A22 unit, and one iPhone 13 unit.

Ghulam Yanuar Lutfi emphasized that all processes carried out were part of a professional investigation mechanism and were in accordance with standards.

"Every action we take is a follow-up to the victim's report, development in the field, and analysis of investigators according to the applicable SOP," he said.

Langkat Police Chief AKBP David Triyo Prasojo gave his appreciation for the quick work of the Criminal Investigation Unit. According to him, extortion is a criminal act that not only harms the material, but also creates psychological pressure for the community.

"Extortion creates fear, disrupts business, and affects social stability. Langkat Police will not provide space for perpetrators who try to take advantage of situations, manipulate issues, or threaten to use mass mobilization for personal gain," he said.
